Around 16,000 Aviation enthusiasts have descended on Perth Airport to watch the world’s biggest plane touch down.

It’s the first time the Antonov 225 has visited Australia.

The huge aircraft which is officially recognised as the biggest in the world flew to Western Australia, for its first commercial flight.

The ANTONOV 225 took off from Kiev carrying a 133 tonne generator built in Czech Republic.

The aircraft is capable of carrying up to 250 tonnes and is flying again after being stranded in Ukraine after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

In 2001 the plane received a second lease of life.

It will make stops in Turkmenistan, India and Malaysia after its down-under flight.
