Dubai:Vasantha Reddi, 64, collapsed in the mall after experiencing chest pain, and later died while on her way to the hospital in an ambulance.

She’d come to Dubai with her husband Sathyanarayana Reddi, 68, a Rotarian from Madras on Wednesday afternoon to participate in a conference organised by the Rotary Foundation.

Several hundred delegates visited the country as part of a Rotary Institute programme in Grand Hyatt, Dubai. The couple was living in Hyatt Regency Hotel, Deira.

“We came to Dubai for the first time and my wife was quite happy. We were in Dubai Mall visiting various shops and taking pictures. All of a sudden, she felt uneasy and fainted. She wanted to rest as she was experiencing severe pain and we had to call an ambulance. While going to the hospital she died in the ambulance,” said the bereaving husband, who is now arranging to repatriate the body of his wife of 39 years to Chennai, their hometown.
